Wuyi Moutain Rock Tea Rougui

Background

Wuyi Mountain is said to be the homeland of the boa. Legend tells that the serpent was the ancient ancestor and sacred totem of the Min people, embodying strength, wisdom, and an enduring spirit.

Rocky Boa captures the very soul of Wuyi rock oolong. Fragrant Rougui leaves are meticulously charcoal-roasted, releasing an elegant aroma from the dry leaves. Beneath their delicate fragrance lies a tea of remarkable depth, where the signature cinnamon character unfolds alongside the unmistakable yan yun—the enduring rock essence that defines authentic Wuyi oolong.

Flavor Profile

Unlike a typical Rougui, Rocky Boa stands out for its exceptionally vibrant fruit-forward character. The first few infusions open with bright fruit notes and a gentle, honeyed sweetness. As the session unfolds, these gradually give way to layers of Rougui’s signature cinnamon spice and elegant minerality, beautifully intertwined with lush tropical fruit aromas.

Exceptionally smooth and approachable, Rocky Boa offers a deeply satisfying and joyful drinking experience. It also has excellent endurance, with the final infusions remaining sweet, fragrant, and remarkably expressive.

Rougui Tea Leaf Characteristics

Rougui, one of the most cherished cultivars among seasoned Wuyi rock tea enthusiasts, is celebrated for its rich, full-bodied liquor and remarkable complexity. Each infusion reveals layers of flavor, combining Rougui’s signature cinnamon spice with elegant floral notes in perfect harmony.

Location on Wuyi Mountain

Wusandi is one of the highest-elevation tea-growing areas within Wuyi Mountain’s semi-core production region. Frequent mountain mists nourish the tea trees throughout the day, creating an ideal environment for slow, balanced growth. Thanks to the high elevation, insect activity is naturally low, allowing the gardens to thrive with minimal human intervention. As a result, the tea trees grow in a largely semi-wild environment, expressing the purity and character of their rocky terroir.
