About Us: Purcraftea Co Founders David and Yunxi

Hello! We’re David from the U.S. and Sherry from China, co-founders of Purcraftea (pronounced Pure-Craft-Tea), and a team with a passion for tea. Four years ago, we moved to Kunming, Yunnan, and after discovering the Blang people’s tea from Jingmai Mountain, we were captivated by its unique wild orchid aroma.

300 year old ancient trees (tea trees) from Jingmai Mountain used in Purcraftea China Yunnan Tea

The Blang people, among the first to cultivate tea, treat their ancient tea trees with deep reverence. But genuine Jingmai tea is often hard to find and pricey. To source authentic tea, we journeyed to Jingmai Mountain, staying with Blang families in Mangjing Village and sampling tea directly from local farmers. The mountain’s strict regulations ensure that only native leaves are harvested, preserving its quality and purity.

After an extensive search, we found the tea we had dreamed of, sourced directly from Blang farmers. This approach lets us guarantee purity, quality, and an accessible price. Like the Blang, we cherish the environment, knowing that Jingmai’s pristine nature and their skilled craftsmanship produce truly exceptional tea. We’re honored to share the pure essence of Jingmai Mountain with tea lovers around the world.

We’re honored that our story was recently featured in Show Me The Ozarks Magazine. Click here to learn more about our story on the magazine.

Purcraftea in Indy Winter Farmers Market

In 2025, we were grateful to become part of the Farmers Markets in Indianapolis. There, we met so many wonderful tea friends and had the chance to share conversations, tastings, and personal tea experiences together. We’re truly thankful for your support and love for our teas.  We look forward to sharing a cup of tea with you at Garfield Park in the summer of 2026

In the new year, we’ll also be joining more pop-up events and tea festivals across Indiana and neighboring states.
