Temperature and Humidity: Keep it in a cool, preferably moderately dry space or at most, a moderately humid space (60-70% humidity). If the environment is too humid, it’s recommended to use a dehumidifier or store the tea in a metal container.

Ventilation: Allow for gentle airflow, but avoid drafty areas.

Odor-Free Environment: Store leaves away from strong smells to prevent flavor contamination.

Light: Protect from direct sunlight and bright light.

With these conditions, Purcratea tea products can age well and develop richer flavors over a very long time.

Raw puerh naturally has some bitterness, which is sometimes changed after years. While ripe puerh and black tea have almost no bitterness.

However, several preparation factors can also influence tea’s taste:

Water Quality: Water quality affects flavor—hard water, with high pH, can lead to off-tastes. Use soft, filtered water when possible.

Steeping Time and Tea-to-Water Ratio: Oversteeping or using too many leaves can also add bitterness. Refer to the information card for the best brewing guidelines.

Complimentary Foods:  It is optimum not to eat sweet foods before or during the tasting of raw puerh.  Doing so could enhance the bitterness from the contrast of flavors.

As shown in the image, if the container is smaller or larger, it’s recommended to adjust the amount of tea accordingly by reducing or increasing the tea leaves.

Or you can make your choice based on your budget and the characteristics of each type of tea. Generally speaking, raw Pu-erh has a clear, slightly bittersweet taste with a strong floral aroma; ripe puerh has a rich, woody profile with a smooth, mellow flavor, making it ideal for cooler weather; and black tea is sweet, refreshing, and fragrant.

Compared to raw puerh, ripe puerh has lower caffeine content, while black tea’s caffeine level falls between that of raw and ripe pu-erh.

The method of tea preparation greatly influences the caffeine content in the infusion. Extended steeping times, higher water temperatures and bigger amounts of tea leaves generally lead to more caffeine being extracted.

Among the two types of raw puerh, Pa Aileng is made from 800-year-old tea trees, while Bee King comes from 80-year-old trees. Both have an orchid aroma and a rich flavor profile; however, Pa Ai Leng can be brewed for more infusions.

Among the two types of ripe puerh, Princess Qi is made from 2012 tea leaves, while Tea Spirit comes from 2022 leaves, both from 300-year-old tea trees. Due to a longer aging process, Princess Qi has a richer, more robust flavor, while Tea Spirit has a more pronounced aroma. Princess Qi can also be brewed for more infusions.

You can use any tea set, tea pot, French press, or bottle (cold brew) to brew our tea; simply follow our recommended tea-to-water ratio, or adjust the amount of tea to suit your personal taste.
